Mt. Mikuma and Sumoto Castle 

For an easier hike with spectacular scenery, the trail to Mt. Mikuma leads visitors through the grounds of Sumoto Castle. The route combines history and nature, ending with panoramic views over Sumoto City, Osaka Bay, and the surrounding coastline. 

Nushima Island

This small petting zoo lets visitors feed and meet friendly animals, including alpacas, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ponies, and mini pigs. Don’t miss the popular Goat Walk in the Sky, where goats might cross an elevated bridge above visitors. It’s a fun stop for families and anyone looking for a relaxing outdoor activity on Awaji Island. 

Animal lovers also won’t want to miss the Awaji Island Monkey Center, where visitors can observe wild Japanese macaques living freely in their natural mountain habitat. Because the monkeys are not kept in enclosures, every visit is different as they roam, play, and interact with one another.
