Winter in Japan: Best Things to Do in Hyogo Prefecture

Are you planning to visit Japan in winter? Or already live in Japan and looking for winter holiday ideas?

Winter might be considered the off-season in Japan by those living outside of Japan as the country is very famous for the sakura season and autumn foliage. However there are plenty of things to do and see in the winter as well! Here we introduce the best things you can do this winter season in Hyogo prefecture.

Winter in Japan

The cold season is one of the best times for some travelers to visit Japan for snow and various seasonal events. From December to February, it snows in snowy areas such as Hokkaido and Tohoku Region and even in Tokyo for some days. In Kansai area however it is unlikely to snow at all. After the fall foliage season in Kansai, the temperature will plummet and humidity will decrease along the Pacific seaboard. The air will be very dry so make sure to apply moisturizing cream if you are sensitive .

December’s average temperatures: 6-10°C (42.8-50°F)
January’s average temperatures: 4-7°C (39.2-44.6°F)
February’s average temperatures: 5-9°C (41-48.2°F)
