Ristorante Scuola occupies the 2nd floor of “Nojima Scuola”, a complex housed in a renovated elementary school. Led by Masayuki Okuda, Ristorante Scuola epitomizes the ethos of local production for local consumption, showcasing Awaji Island’s finest vegetables, seafood, and beef in its exquisite Italian dishes. Occasional live music from local musicians add an artistic accent for a night of soaring sophistication.

Chef Masayuki Okuda: One of the World’s Top 1000 chefs

Born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1969, he opened “Al che-cciano” restaurant in Tsuruoka City in 2000. Since 2004, he has been an ambassador for Shonai (Yamagata Prefecture), known as the food capital of Japan. He was selected as one of the “1000 Chefs of the World” by Terra Madre 2006, the world renowned event in Italy that celebrates socially aware cuisine.

In 2020, Masayuki Okuda received the prestigious “Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Award” in recognition of his notable contributions to the promotion of Japanese food culture. The multi-award winning chef has gathered acclaim not only within Japan but also on the world stage, participating in many international events, including the Davos Forum.

The chef himself has selected each ingredient and seasoning with great care for this special full-course meal, available only on Awaji Island. Using only the finest ingredients, the dishes prepared personally by Chef Okuda, will not be revealed until the day of the event but are sure to be full of surprises from start to finish.
