Awaji Island’s Acai Bowl: Healthy Eats with a View

Acai bowls got really popular after everyone loved them at the beach resorts in Hawaii. People started enjoying them as a healthy breakfast after coming back from tropical vacations. Acai is a super healthy fruit from Brazil.

It grows on a plant that’s part of the palm family and looks like big black berries under the leaves. In Japan, it’s called Wakaba cabbage palm. These plants grow naturally in the Amazon rainforest and hold lots of good stuff to protect their seeds from the tough weather there, like strong sun and heavy rain.

The fruit looks a bit like blueberries, but it goes bad quickly. So, in Japan, they usually import it as frozen purée or dried powder. Acai bowls are a yummy and healthy meal made by blending frozen acai to a smoothie, then topping it with granola, lots of fruit, and honey.

The diner and café have a nice white and blue exterior and are next to HELLO KITTY SMILE.
Downstairs is a seafood diner and upstairs is a café.

We went to the café since it was after lunch!
Inside, it’s mostly blue and yellow, and it gives marine vibes.
And of course, you can see the sea right in front of your eyes. The view is great!

The acai bowl I got had crunchy granola and homemade acai sauce.
On top, there were frozen mango, fresh banana, and frozen berries.
There was lots of honey on the berries 😍

They also had soft serve ice cream made with Awaji Island milk!
It was a bit firm, like between sherbet and soft serve.
The coffee flavor was a bit bitter, which makes it a more sophisticated taste. Overall it wasn’t too sweet, and it was yummy 🥰
