Of course, you know Godzilla, the iconic “kaiju” beast featured in many Japanese movies. How about Hamtaro, the cute character from the popular anime and manga series? Ok, you might know both, but did you know they have now come together to create a new creature called Godziham-kun?
Only on Awaji Island, come meet Godziham-kun in person. You can even play rock-paper-scissors with this adorable creation!
Godzilla x Hamtaro Collaboration
More than 20 years ago, 2 smash hit movies of drastically different genres, Godzilla and Hamtaro, premiered in Japanese theaters. Interestingly, both films were released as a double bill, so 1 ticket got you in to both movies. There were also special promotions, such as Godziham-kun keychain figures and other exclusive goods. These promotions contributed to both movies becoming some of the most successful films of the year.
In 2021, Godziham-kun made a comeback! New artwork and a lineup of fresh merchandise appeared, featuring plushes and snacks. Nijigen no Mori, an anime theme park, also joined the party, releasing lots of new goods and hosting events around this beloved character.
