From Awaji Island! A Relaxing Direct Ferry Ride to the Osaka-Kansai World Expo Site

The Osaka-Kansai Expo has just began. This is a big event that will bring together tourists from all over the world. Accommodations near Yumeshima, the site of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, are beginning to fill up and prices are reportedly skyrocketing. During the Osaka-Kansai Expo, a direct ferry service from Awaji Island to the Osaka-Kansai Expo is being operated. Accommodations are relatively inexpensive on Awaji Island, and limited-time-only accommodation plans are also available. Here are some must-see accesses for those planning to visit the Osaka/Kansai Expo.

A Direct Ferry Service from Awaji Island to the Expo Site

A direct ferry service from Awaji Island’s Tsubasa Port in Yumebutai, Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, to Yumeshima, the site of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, is being operated during the Osaka-Kansai Expo period. Tsubasa Port is highly accessible by free shuttle (a schedule is limited to a ferry’s schedule) and also about a 10-minute walk from Awaji Yumebutai. It is also easily accessible by highway bus or by parking your car at Awaji Yumebutai.
By boarding on a ferry, you can relax until you arrive without the stress of traffic jams on the way to Osaka-Kansai Expo.

Ferry’s Schedule and Prices

Operating Period: Until October 13, 2025

Outbound: Tsubasa Port → Yumeshima / Departure 9:30 a.m. → Arrival 10:30 a.m.
Return: Yumeshima → Tsubasa Port / Departure 5:29 p.m. → Arrival 6:30 p.m.
A dedicated bus will take you from Yumeshima Pier to the West Gate of the venue, and from the West Gate to Yumeshima Pier 30 minutes prior to a ferry’s departure, so you can head to/from Osaka-Kansai Expo in a relaxed atmosphere.
(After boarding the ferry, it will take about an hour to cross the ocean, and 15 to 20 minutes to arrive at the venue.)

Return trip from Yumeshima, Osaka to Tsubasa Port in April and September: Dep. 4:29 p.m. → Arr. 5:30 p.m.

Ticket prices (save 400 yen by purchasing a round-trip ticket)
One-way ticket:
Adults (junior high school students and older): 3,600 yen
Children: 1,800 yen
The disabled: 1,800 yen
Round-trip ticket:
Adult (junior high school student or older): 6,800 yen
Child: 3,400 yen
The disabled: 3,400 yen

Passengers boarding the ship will also receive priority entrance privileges to the PASONA NATUREVERSE pavilion of the Pasona Group, exhibiting an iPS heart derived from iPS cells. Please present your boarding ticket at the PASONA NATUREVERSE pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

*Children’s fare applies to children 6-12 years old (elementary school students) and 1-6 years old who need a seat.
*For infants and toddlers under 6 years old who are not yet in elementary school and do not require a seat (being on the lap, etc.), one child per adult is free of charge.
*The disabled ticket price applies to the disabled person with a disability certificate and one caregiver.
Please be sure to bring your disability certificate on the day of the event. (If you do not have your certificate, you will be asked to purchase another adult-priced ticket on the spot.)

Highlights of Pasona Group Pavilion at the 2025 Expo

Pasona Group, which operates a variety of dining and tourist facilities on the west coast of Awaji Island, has a pavilion at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. The theme is “Thank You for Life.” The pavilion presents the world view of “NATUREVERSE (NATURE×UNIVERSE),” which aims to realize a sustainable and prosperous society in harmony with nature, and proposes a wellbeing future that supports physical, mental, and social health, including an exhibit of an “iPS heart” derived from iPS cells.
