“Farming Resort San San Villa” quietly rests on a lush, green hillside of Awaji Island. Soft sunlight filters through the trees, and with every gentle breeze, a sense of calm begins to unfold—offering a special retreat where life flows in harmony with nature’s rhythm.
The property features 11 villas designed by 10 architects from Japan and abroad, each uniquely crafted to highlight the warmth and character of natural materials. No two are alike, creating truly one-of-a-kind spaces.
Within the grounds, a sustainable farm invites guests to experience a lifestyle rooted in agriculture—from planting seeds to harvesting and savoring the produce. The chance to grow and enjoy seasonal ingredients shaped by Awaji Island’s climate is a luxury that feels far removed from everyday life. Here, you can reconnect with nature, restore your inner rhythm, and experience a peaceful stay that brings balance to both body and mind.
Cradled by the natural beauty of Awaji Island, this is a unique experience that brings “agriculture” close to your everyday senses. Growing vegetables is more than just a task—it is a quiet dialogue with small forms of life, and a moment of living in harmony with nature.
At SANSAN Villa, guests can take part in authentic farm work alongside dedicated staff, beginning with nurturing soil that is gentle on both people and the environment. Feel the texture of the earth and the scent of the seasons—sensations rarely found in urban life—as you discover the joy of cultivating with your own hands. This time spent in tune with nature’s rhythm offers a calming retreat, gently easing the mind and providing a restorative escape from the pace of daily life.
A Distinctive Villa Rooted in Farm Living

Rather than prioritizing proximity to tourist attractions or mere convenience, this is a place where the stay itself becomes the purpose of the journey. Farming Resort San San Villa offers a new kind of accommodation on Awaji Island—one that brings together meaningful experiences, opportunities for learning, and a sense of balance for both body and mind.
The villas are thoughtfully designed using natural materials such as wood, earth, and straw, allowing light and breeze to flow freely throughout. Surrounded by greenery, each space feels gently connected to its environment, offering the comfort of a dwelling that lives in harmony with nature.
The Allure of Two Villas Designed by Sousuke Fujimoto, Architect of the Expo Grand Ring
The two villas designed by Sousuke Fujimoto are “ROU (Tower House)” and “UZU (Spiral House).”
“ROU (Tower House)” is centered around a cone-shaped tower, with rooms and stairways organically connected throughout the structure. It creates a seamless flow between interior and exterior, where architecture and nature gently dissolve into one another. As you move along the spiral staircase and up to the rooftop garden, you can take in views of the surrounding fields and experience the rhythms of seasonal change—an expression of life in harmony with agriculture. The use of earthen walls and natural materials further enhances its warmth and character.

“UZU (Spiral House)” is designed as a continuous, swirling form that connects the outdoors with the interior. The sequence of spaces—from the garden path to the dining area, kitchen, and bedroom—gradually becomes more serene as it draws inward. Earthen walls and generous windows allow the inside and outside to blend naturally.
Surrounded by soft light, gentle breezes, and close views of the fields and landscape, this unique space invites you to experience agriculture and a life in harmony with nature as a seamless extension of everyday living.
