Grand Chariot Villas
The private villas are called "Cocoons" for their round shape, spacious layout, warm tones, and use of natural materials.
All villas have wooden decks where you can lounge and enjoy the gentle breeze, surrounding greenery, and warm sun. At night, it is the perfect place to stargaze. The starry sky can also be viewed from inside, with the round 5m-high skylight turning your cocoon into a personal planetarium.
During the day, the large windows and the warm wood tones of the walls create a bright, airy space. All villas are equipped with a cypress bath, and the refreshing scent of wood wafts through the air. It’s the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring Awaji Island.
In addition to regular villas, Grand Chariot also has collaboration villas featuring famous characters from Japanese pop culture. There is room for collaboration with Naruto, Godzilla, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, and Crayon Shinchan, all named after the attractions at the Nijigen no Mori theme park in Awajishima Park.
There is also a Hello Kitty themed villa in connection with the Hello Kitty facilities located on the west coast of Awaji Island.
Themed rooms include:
- NARUTO Collaboration Rooms: “Hokage’s Villa” and “Akatsuki Cocoon”
- Godzilla Collaboration Rooms: “Monster Land” and “Showa Toho Monster Reference Villa”
- Dragon Quest Collaboration Rooms: “Slime Cocoon” and “Slime Cocoon with Japanese Design”
- Monster Hunter Collaboration Rooms: “Gathering Hall Cocoon” and “My House Cocoon”
- Crayon Shinchan Collaboration Rooms: “Ora no Cocoon” and “Hender Cocoon”
- Hello Kitty Collaboration Room “Hello Kitty Star Cocoon”

Grand Chariot Meals
Meals are served in our dining room and consist of a wide range of dishes that highlight Awaji Island’s natural ingredients and its legacy as the “Land of Food,” having supplied seafood and agricultural produce to the imperial court in Kyoto since ancient times.
Both breakfast and dinner are included with your stay, featuring delicious Japanese cuisine made with ingredients sourced from Awaji Island. The island was once used as the source of high quality agriculture, seafood, and livestock for feeding the imperial court of Japan when it was located in Kyoto. The quality ingredients once enjoyed by the court can now be enjoyed as part of your stay at Grand Chariot.
The restaurant is supervised by chef Haruyuki Yamashita, who has 13 restaurants in Japan and overseas, including one in Tokyo Midtown.

After bathing, you can use the adjacent sauna, foot bath, Goemon bath (Japanese bath shaped like a cauldron).
